Coding Expert Meets with Coding Students

On Wednesday February 28th, a Canadian computer programmer, Jon Hill, came to speak to Mr Adam's Introduction to Coding students about the role of coding relative to what the Coding students are working on right now,  pursuing a career in programming and strategies on learning and being a good programmer.  Mr. Hill has 18 years of experience working in computer coding and is currently working as a freelance programmer out of Berlin, Germany. Some of the areas he has worked in include video game design, web site design, data management and machine learning. He gave the students a general description of what his work has consisted of over his career as well as how he got to where he is today. He spent considerable time discussing the current state of programming and what the future may hold. Mr. Hill shared his experience on what the best ways to learn coding are, as well as suggestions as to how a student could pursue a career in programming. The session ended with a Q&A, during which time students were able to ask Mr Hill questions related to coding.  Having real work practioneers share their knowledge and experience with students helps them to consider their future and where and how their talents could be best applied.
