The voltage in Thailand is 220 volts compared to 110 volts used in the United States. Most appliances are readily available in Thailand including hairdryers, stereos, microwaves, toasters and even crock-pots. Some furnished apartments may come with TV, dishwashers, and even microwaves, and toasters. In addition, transformers are also readily available in a variety of sizes at reasonable cost.

Do not bring a surge protector from the United States unless you know it is rated to handle 220 volts. Surge protectors are readily available in Thailand.
