Dr. Steven E. Ballowe brings career experiences of over 30 years, with leadership in education that has been recognized by several Presidents in the United States and Governors in Virginia, South Carolina and Virginia. He has created educational programs that have generated outstanding academic achievement by students. Dr. Ballowe earned his PhD from the University of South Carolina, an Ed.S. diploma from the University of South Carolina, his Masters degree from Lynchburg College and a B.A. degree from Virginia Military Institute. Dr. Ballowe is the author of two books, The Gainesville Model and Georgia M.A.G.I.C., numerous journal publications and has served as a keynote speaker and conference presenter in many national and state forums. A highlight was being requested by the Georgia School Boards Association to present the “Gainesville Model” and discuss academic achievement and accountability to every new school board member in the State of Georgia from 2004 to 2008!
Dr. Khanchit (Andrew) Juthapornmanee has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, U.S.A.; a Master of Science Degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville in Texas, U.S.A. and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration at North Bangkok University in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, he also held the Graduate Diploma in Teaching Profession at North Bangkok University. He has been in the Garment Business for 15 years and an English Instructor at the University levels in Chiang Mai for 6 years before joining TCIS as Director and Business Manager. He is also ETS certified to teach TOEFL, the next generation.
John McGrath is the High School’s Senior Teacher. He is a Canadian with over thirty years experience in education from early years through Graduate programs at the University Level. He has been a successful Administrator for over eighteen years, having led programs of over 82,000 students. John gained most of his experience teaching and leading in Canada at a variety of schools as well as having taught at the University of Ottawa Masters Program as well as at Queen’s University where he taught the Principal Qualification Program. John received his degrees from the University of Ottawa before pursuing Administrative and Superintendent Qualifications. His licensure comes from the Ontario College of Teachers. Most recently John has been the Principal of The American School of Bangkok where he spent the last four years leading a campus which spanned early years through grade 12. John is currently pursuing a Phd in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Conrad M. Pholar has been an overseas educator with more than 30 years of experience. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Edinboro University located in Pennsylvania and his Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He is currently working towards his doctorate degree with the University of Pittsburgh. For sixteen years he served as a school administrator at seven international schools located in Colombia, Spain, Thailand, Panama, Bahrain as well as the USA. This is his second tour of Thailand, having assisted in starting the Satit Bilingual School of Rangsit University. He has held the positions of high school principal, middle school principal, elementary principal, assistant director and head of school. Prior to his career in administration, he taught elementary, middle and high school for sixteen years at U.S. accredited international schools.
Hannah Hartman comes from Portland, Oregon. She has a bachelors of science in psychology and a masters in education from Portland State University. She also has a masters in educational leadership from Lehigh University. In addition, she has completed a program from the Principals' Training Center for International School Leadership and has a certificate of international school leadership. Hannah has an elementary teaching certificate to teach ages pre-school to grade 8. Hannah has been working in education overseas for 10 years. She has worked at TASIS England, Shanghai American School, American School of Warsaw, and most recently the American International School of Abuja. She has developed technology programs and taught grades two and three. Hannah has held various leadership positions in all her schools including coaching and training teachers for reading and writing workshop, leading orientations, creating mentor programs, and developing professional learning teams. Hannah has presented at the BETT show in London, Learning 2.0 in Shanghai, and the CEESA teachers conference in Warsaw on the topics of integrating technology and differentiation. She has been a part of developing new standards based report cards, implementing teacher evaluations systems, and using MAP data for data based decision making. Hannah has also worked on accreditation teams for CIS.
Tony has been with TCIS for 6 years and runs an outstanding Chinese Languages Program for Grades KG- 12. He has a Masters of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the National Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan, Republic of China He has a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from Tamkang University, Taiwan, Republic of China. He holds his certification in Chinese for Secondary School from the Government of Taiwan, Republic of China.
Ms. Peggy was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chinese Literature and Language Education in National Chang-Hua University of Education and then obtained her Master of Arts Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in National Taiwan Normal University of Education in 2012. She has been teaching at TCIS for 7 years since 2007. Hard-working students, passionate colleagues and lovely parents are her favorites in the campus. Ms Peggy devotes herself to education and exploring best practices in classrooms all the times. She had been one of the presenters in Bangkok Teachers' Network, and has been working for College Board as AP exam Reader since the summer of 2013. Starting July 2014, she will be leading Chinese Department and World Language Department at TCIS. She believes “Education is not the filling a pail but the lighting a fire" - William Bulter Yeats. It is just the best interprets the destination to education, and TCIS is right on the path!
Ms. Penporn (Rung) Kaewmark has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Silpakorn University, Thailand. She had taught Grade 1 to Grade12 in Thai Language and Culture (IGCSE). She was also the Head Librarian and Counselor at St.Stephen’s International School Khao-Yai, Nakornratchasima for 7 years. She has been working at TCIS since 2006 as Librarian Teacher and has been teaching Thai Language and Culture for High School Students before being selected as Head of the Thai Department.
